Hey Rich!
Glad to see that you’re comfortable posting events and groups with the word “queer” in them. I know some folks have issues with the use of that term in general, but especially by gays and lesbians when referring to themselves.
Once upon a time, “queer” meant different or odd. I like to think that as a gay man I am different (some would argue that I am also odd) and I am not at all uncomfortable reclaiming that word to use when I refer to myself and others on occasion. It’s interchangeable in my vocabulary. I am just curious if I am in the minority with regards to this issue. I am seeing more and more use of the term lately, so maybe I am in the majority and just don’t know it.
I would be interested to know what your thoughts or feelings are about the use of “queer.” Are you of the mind that as gay/lesbian people we can reclaim the word “queer” for ourselves, or are you part of the camp who believes that the use of that word should be avoided by the gay/lesbian community altogether? You might not have feelings either way or perhaps you would rather not get into that discussion on here. I am just curious…
Thanks so much for all the hard work you put into HoM, and a special thanks for the vid clips of TBRU!
Best wishes and keep on Hint of Minting!
