Just a short quick note that this is Hint’s final post. We took great pleasure in our short time detailing the goings-on in the LGBT communities here and sometimes beyond. This was an endeavor of love for the community and the arts. We only hope that Hint took to you places you might have missed otherwise.

But if you think Hint is closing just because, you are wrong. Cindy is still capturing great footage and covering the local music scene and is the fab diva behind FineLineLive.com. Yours truly has taken a job at the Dallas Voice as a staff writer. I hope and plan to continue the same type of coverage we had here as well as being even more available to the local community to tell their stories.

Without a lot of fanfare, we thank you for all the times you stopped by. We love you for reading our Internet corner of the world. And appreciated all of those who told us “good job.”

Video Vault – Something Fabulous @ Gay Bingo Gone 80s

Vault may be aging this video more than it really is. The Rose Room’s last Gay Bingo was just back on May 16. But this may be one of the most inspired drag performances we have ever seen. We love us some 80s here at Mint and hated missing the last Gay Bingo Gone 80s. Fortunately, this intermission performance by Something Fabulous and Jenna Skyy was caught on vid. Some Robert Palmer, Janet Jackson, a remixed Journey and of course, Lady GaGa filled out the medley in this exciting performance. Wished we were there.

NGBlog responds to The Dallas Principles

The Dallas Principles popped up all of the sudden to stand in the fight for equal rights. However, they did it in such a clandestine fashion, it rubbed many people the wrong way. You can read more about them here and here. NGBlog, based out of New York, was none too happy about their protocol and went and posted this video response. It’s quiet, it’s succinct and perhaps even abrasive. But we here kind of agree with them. The Dallas Principles seemed to say a lot without saying anything. And do it behind without putting a lot of faces behind it. Sure they listed who was a part of the 24 people who met to discuss the fate of the GLBT community but considering how impersonal their video introduction is, they don’t quite understand the human touch. Some of the authors have released their own vids to maybe give a warmer appeal to their endeavor but reading from a script isn’t quite cutting it. Search Dallas Principles in YouTube for more.

Day of Decision Rally Tonight on The Strip

Queer Liberaction has been waiting for this day as California Supreme Court makes its decision on Prop 8. Either way it goes, QL is ready for action. While we catch up on our Memorial Day weekend, here is QL’s official word from their e-mail blast.

Oak Lawn and Cedar Springs
Tuesday, May 26
7:00 PM

After almost three months of waiting, the California Supreme Court will issue its ruling on the Proposition 8 Case at noon on Tuesday, May 26. Whether we’re handed a victory or a defeat we will rally at the corner of Oak Lawn and Cedar Springs this coming Tuesday at 7:00 in the evening. If the California Supreme Court overturns Prop 8 we will celebrate while pushing our win and riding the momentum of marriage equality that is sweeping this nation. If the court upholds Prop 8 and allows a narrow majority to strip civil rights away from a minority, we will protest as vigorously as possible. The only thing worse than a defeat is a passive acceptance of it.

On Thursday, March 5 the California Supreme Court heard oral arguments regarding the Proposition 8 case. Prop 8, the highest funded campaign on social issues in US history rescinded previously won marriage equality rights from LGBT people. Prop 8 passed on Election Day 2008. The California Supreme Court has heard arguments on a legal technicality regarding whether Prop 8 was a revision to rather than an amendment to the state’s constitution.

Drag Race winner @ Woody’s tonight

If you caught all of RuPaul’s Drag Race last season, you followed the travails of Bebe Zahara Benet as she went on to win the inaugural title. Now catch her for real as the Absolut Real Fruit Tour comes to Dallas stopping tonight at Woody’s Sports and Video Bar. Drag Race’s official DJ, hottie Mark Pichiotti from Chicago will be spinning before and after as well.

Last Weekend Video – Fischerspooner @ Granada

Some video finally popped up from last Friday’s Fischerspooner concert at the Granada Theater. There is no better way to experience Fischerspooner than live but if that’s not the case, then video should come pretty close. Here they perform “Danse en France” which plays more cirque than concert. Looks like the avant garde rockers gave a stunning show with compelling visuals and their fusion hardcore musical faves. Hey, that’s how their MySpace describes the music.

The Fashion Show’s Andrew Christian comes to Rush

Now that Project Runway is kaput on Bravo (boohoo), The Fashion Show is primed to be the go-to clothing design show on the channel. While we here have yet to be overly impressed, we are forgiving considering it is the first season and we have remain compelled to keep watching it. Please however, someone, anyone, get rid of Merlin. Annoyyyyying.

Contestant Andrew Christian, who runs into some apparent plagiaristic issues in this week’s episode, comes to town this weekend to show off his underwear line over at Club Rush. Which isn’t a bad line at all. Without veering into the over sexiness of Calvin Klein or the ridiculousness of International Male, Christian designs some fun, cool and of course sexy drawers and tees for the gents. And he doesn’t forget the ladies with his uber-cute line of briefs, hot shorts and camis.

We do speculate though that if he is here doing that on Saturday and The Fashion Show is far from over, he may not have made it all the way to the end. D’oh!

UPDATE: Club Rush is doing a call for models. Free undies to go with it! Here’s the official word.

Check out the Dukes of Dallas doing the drag king thing up in Denton earlier this month. They hit the reborn (and Little d’s only gay bar) Mable Peabody’s Beauty Shoppe and Chainsaw Repair and here we see Chase Lyrics performing Pleasure P’s “Boyfriend #2″. She…er…he looks spot on and the peeps in the club seem rather down with the Dukes.

Perhaps a Dukes of Denton chapter should begin.
