We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that the tip to this show was from Miss Amanda and Miss Gillian. They couldn’t quite contain their excitement about their tix to seeing Brandi Carlile late next month at the Granada Theater. Then we gave her a listen. There’s some good stuff in that lady’s repertoire. We kind of got stuck on “Have You Ever” which reminded us of Sarah McLachlan’s yodeling with some Patrice Pike mixed in. While she is in the vein of Melissa Etheridge, her voice recalls a more throaty seventies feel. Carlile seems to sound like Janis Joplin if Joplin had calmed down a bit.
