The Dallas Principles popped up all of the sudden to stand in the fight for equal rights. However, they did it in such a clandestine fashion, it rubbed many people the wrong way. You can read more about them here and here. NGBlog, based out of New York, was none too happy about their protocol and went and posted this video response. It’s quiet, it’s succinct and perhaps even abrasive. But we here kind of agree with them. The Dallas Principles seemed to say a lot without saying anything. And do it behind without putting a lot of faces behind it. Sure they listed who was a part of the 24 people who met to discuss the fate of the GLBT community but considering how impersonal their video introduction is, they don’t quite understand the human touch. Some of the authors have released their own vids to maybe give a warmer appeal to their endeavor but reading from a script isn’t quite cutting it. Search Dallas Principles in YouTube for more.

Meanwhile, we are forming our own offshoot The Dallas Victoria Principals where we pontificate the virtues of matching belts, hairspray and a good night sleep to avoid outlandish dreams.

Some video finally popped up from last Friday’s Fischerspooner concert at the Granada Theater. There is no better way to experience Fischerspooner than live but if that’s not the case, then video should come pretty close. Here they perform “Danse en France” which plays more cirque than concert. Looks like the avant garde rockers gave a stunning show with compelling visuals and their fusion hardcore musical faves. Hey, that’s how their MySpace describes the music.

Thanks to poster ajtait for the vid.

Check out the Dukes of Dallas doing the drag king thing up in Denton earlier this month. They hit the reborn (and Little d’s only gay bar) Mable Peabody’s Beauty Shoppe and Chainsaw Repair and here we see Chase Lyrics performing Pleasure P’s “Boyfriend #2”. She…er…he looks spot on and the peeps in the club seem rather down with the Dukes.

Perhaps a Dukes of Denton chapter should begin.

Santo Gay of Si Soy Gay has been an ally, a friend and even an inspiration to Hint of Mint with his perspectives on the GLBT community and reporting experience. Now that he has gone to Mexico, he continues his mission to show the world more of the community.

Did you ever imagine the scene in Mexico City? We knew that city is jam packed with people but images of the community don’t seem to grace the U.S.  publications all that much. Shame. Because take a look at this video captured of the 4th Annual Lesbian March last month with some 5000 lesbians in attendance and probably a few men tagging along. The energy there looks and sounds fantastico!

Santo Gay said, “It was a great March. I am glad I attended because there was GREAT energy there at the Marcha: a whole lot vagina monologues going on there.”

Found these vids of the Dallas Purple Party on YouTube thanks to poster DallasNewGuy. It is a bit hard to relate to a circuit party when you’re not actually there but at the very least, you can see what was going down…and it looked like oodles. Who would have thought House of Blues be an ideal spot for sweaty shirtless dancing and the oonce oonce oonce of heavy basslines and dance beats?

Just found this video online of The Wanda Show  over at Havana down on The Strip. In fact, there are a bunch of Wanda Show clips thanks to poster Candoris. We kinda dug Mr. Aquarius’ slick performance in this clip though from March. And besides,we haven’t given any props to the reigning Mr. Dallas Gay Latino which we’re having a hard time figuring if he’s also the reigning Mr. Texas Gay Latino.

This is short and sweet but just a reminder of tonight’s event at the Round Up which is pretty much all in the poster.

We happened to find this video though posted just a few days ago featuring peeps from the United Community Against Gay Hate (UCAGH) featuring members of the organization along with Minty friend and activist dynamo Blake Wilkinson from Queer Liberaction, Erin Moore of Stonewall Democrats and Sandra Sanchez with Rockwall County Young Democrats (who knew?). Here they discuss the need to remember Stonewall and promote the upcoming Million Gay March.

S4 is going old school with a show benefiting the Greg Dollgener Memorial AIDS Fund (GDMAF, Inc.) and they are bringing one of the original disco divas to town. You might know her from such dance floor smashes as “Red Light” and the “If My Friends Could See Me Now” both of which peaked at #1 on the disco charts. Linda Clifford‘s contribution to the 70s music scene was notable with six more chart topping hits as well as some respected collaborations with Curtis Mayfield and Isaac Hayes. And if that doesn’t relate to any of the new schoolers out there then perhaps this little fact might. Whitney Houston’s “All The Man That I Need” was originally recorded by Clifford back in 1981. And now she’s coming to town to lend a helping hand.

Now that’s a true diva.

You just have to love those old 70s music shows. If it wasn’t for them, we would have images like these below. Here, Clifford sings “If They Could See Me Now” with a lot of glitz  on Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert.

Hip-hopster Soce the Elemental Wizard debuted his newest vid “They Call Me” on his MySpace page recently and we think you should give it a look. Soce’s is an interesting type of hip-hop that sways from friendly pop music to waxing philosophical confessions while at times veering off into hilarity.  We can never get enough of “I Am So Gay” but “Brand New Day” is a mellow groove that knocks us out.

If you have been wondering what’s been going on with our favorite she-male detectives/pop superstars, She-Dick has been keeping everyone up to date on their video blog on YouTube. How nifty is that? And by the sounds of it with their interview with Nicolette (below), things are up up up for the gals and of course we couldn’t be none the happier for them. They are buzzing up New York and their sound is even morphing. Clearly a good move for them.

Keep up with the ladies by going here and then go and demand they come back and give us a show. Gasp! Could there even be a reunion with the original members?
