Vault may be aging this video more than it really is. The Rose Room’s last Gay Bingo was just back on May 16. But this may be one of the most inspired drag performances we have ever seen. We love us some 80s here at Mint and hated missing the last Gay Bingo Gone 80s. Fortunately, this intermission performance by Something Fabulous and Jenna Skyy was caught on vid. Some Robert Palmer, Janet Jackson, a remixed Journey and of course, Lady GaGa filled out the medley in this exciting performance. Wished we were there.

Apparently Sordid Lives creator Del Shores didnt’ realize he had a bigger crowd to play to. According to his MySpace bulletin, he was going to be content with a small crowd for his one man show. “I just found out yesterday the theatre I’m performing my one-man show — DEL SHORES THE STORYTELLER — has 136 seats instead of 90. So, there are tickets available.”

We like those numbers for sure. Del Shores The Storyteyller will be one night only at Uptown Players, Friday, March 27 @ 7:30 p.m. To snag your tickets, go here. Besides, Shores hopes you’ll be there, “Would love for you to come to my premiere.”

Oh, he also mentions his partner, Jason Dottley will be singing his new dance single at the Rose Room this Saturday during the drag show at 11 p.m. Apparently this quick gig is totally off the radar. Until now it seems. Shores nor Dottley mention the song anywhere but we think it might be this one. And we kinda likey.

A little bird, OK, Lacienega “Lady LaLa” herself mentioned that she’ll be at tonight’s Rose Room Rising Star Showcase over at S4. Hosted by the ever fabulous Layla LaRue, Thursday nights always gives some light to shine on the up and coming divas of Dallas. So go root on the gals but give it up a little louder for Lacienega. If not, she’ll totally give you “ojo”! And trust, you do not want that!

Once again, Sue Ellen’s is proving to be the premiere booking venue in the gayborhood. It probably doesn’t hurt that essentially they are the only spot on the strip that could host actual bands save for the Rose Room and Alexandre’s. But with their willingness to go out of the box and open the doors to local bands known more in Deep Ellum and Lower Greenville (The Bright, Somebody’s Darling) and the occasional touring band (Girl in a Coma), we love us some Sue for our live music fetish as well as their clever booking that appeals to all kinds of people.

Later this month they’ll be the Dallas stop for the Hell on Heels Tour featuring New York City’s glam rockers Semi-Precious Weapons as headliners along with Von Iva and Nico Vega in their Vixin Lounge. SPW is musically astonishing and by the looks of their show (below), we imagine this concert might just blast out those glass walls in the Lounge. That is if Von Iva doesn’t do it first. Expect good things from their set as well. Hope the ladies are ready for some clean-up.

Might we recommend though to the Vixin Lounge, get rid of all them tables? Live shows are meant to be appreciated while standing. The energy sinks way down when a rocking show is going on but everyone is merely on their arse sipping a drink and then applauding. Encourage some standing room to the front with some tables in the back or just on the sides. At the very least, consider it for SPW because they are probably going to melt the place down and hope that people are dancing and slamming while doing so.

Hell on Heels is scheduled for Saturday, January 17 @ the Vixin Lounge in Sue Ellen’s. No word on ticket or admission prices.

Vodpod videos no longer available.
